Gratiot County Barely Beracy Cabin Escape!

Took the girls for a little weekend escape to Ashley.......Thanks to the generous spirit of the Beracy family for allowing me and my girls to enjoy their beautiful cabin and nature park!

Check out the hand hewn logs on this beauty!

One of the highlights of the weekend for the girls was the completion of a WILLY WONKA Gingerbread house kit.....They ate about 1/4 the ingredients prior to completion but that is part of the fun...

The GRATIOT COUNTY LUMBERJACK competition!

Some quiet time with "Grandma B".....gumdrops, candy canes, and sweet stories of soft reindeer...

Visiting KB's horse barn..

A little tour of inside....(did they say Prime Time???)

This part of the post is very serious. I was very moved to have the opportunity to be introduced to a woman I never knew....I was heavily overtaken by emotion as a good friend, Sheriff B, took me on a quiet walk into a cozy stand of pines and showed me the memorial he built to his wife who is now with the Lord. "She was a good woman, Jitters......" Rest in peace precious soul.....The time put into the beautiful white oak cross only glimpses the deep adoration and memories I saw in this man's eyes as he told of her...

2008 TEAM T CEDAR SWAMP DEER/FISH CAMP!

The Season Kickoff Crow Shotgun Kill!!!!!

This year celebrated yet another year of our DAD and two brothers sucking the marrow out of life as it is offered itself up buffet style as it does each fall here in lovely picturesque Michigan!

We headed "up north" once again and stayed at a cabin on Little Traverse Lake near Traverse City (1/2 hour away)....The cabin was old, cedar, and EVERYTHING one might hope for...(Sugarloaf resort in the background)

The perch were ON!

The "PrimeTime Van" made a strong showing!

Some things don't need explanation:
Like an Uncle who would wear a shirt backwards all of OPENING DAY and never figure it out....

Let me introduce you to "Ted". He sunk his boat last year off the coast of Lake Michigan during a Salmon Fishing tournament.....No visit up north is complete until you meet this CLASSIC guy!
Here is a bit of the "Little Otter" boat sinking story enhanced with a little Butweiser.....
Soul draining scenery....
And 5 years of QUALITY DEER MANAGEMENT IN LEELANAU COUNTY! A DOUBLE WHAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMIE!

THE MOUSER 7.62X54R CHECKALSLOVAKIAN SNIPER RIFLE DOES HER AGAIN!

THE THREE CLASSIC TOBIN'S! (I'M THE FOURTH)
And a special guest appearance by HANK WILLIAMS JR with his National Park (Sleeping BearDunes National Park) Michigan Bow Kill!!!!(OFF THE GROUND BY THE WAY WHILE STANDING AND SHOOTING HIS BOW!!!!!!!)

The Sky is Falling!

The DOW is way way way down....

Gas is in short supply and the price will skyrocket again....

Pensions at risk.....

Wages are falling....

I can't afford cable.....

Listen, LIFE IS 10 PERCENT WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU AND 90 PERCENT HOW YOU RESPOND!

The perch are biting

The deer are almost in rut

Icefishing is coming

The leaves are changing.....

Pull up your bootstraps and get LIVING! BE A ROCKET MAN!

Global Snowstormwarming?

Global Warming? I'm not buying it!

They are still digging out from a MAJOR snowstorm across the northern Rockies. 62″ of new snow was reported at Albro Lake, Montana (that’s over five feet!) 49″ of new snow was reported near Red Mountain Lodge and also Sweet Grass, Montana. Up to 33″ of snow fell in the mountains of Wyoming and heavy snow was reported in the Unita Mts. of Utah and in the Colorado Rockies. It was the earliest significant snow ever in Boise, Idaho, and Burley, Idaho reported 25″ of new snow. Snow pushed out into the western sections of North and South Dakota. Record cold followed the snow. Elk Park, Montana reported a low temperature of -11 Monday morning!

Autumnal Exuberance

Today I come to you with high spirits and a happy heart. For the time is upon us..The time of year that warms my soul and makes my inner spirit hum with delight.......FALL!!!!

Of what do I speak? Let me visually walk you through the images stored and etched into my mind forever:

The farmer's harvest of corn

Apple trees laden with bounty

Deer camp and all the smells: a woodburning stove, fresh coffee, fried fresh fish, pipe tobacco..
Being in the brisk woods as the sun rises on a bed of freshly fallen fire color soaked leaves....
Deer hunting!~

Pumpkins, both in color and the sweet taste of pumpkin pie, make me happy.......

There is so much out of doors to enjoy this fall season....Enjoy one of life's simple cheap pleasures and EMBRACE FALL! It can be as simple as stepping outside, devoid of a cellphone, watch, and all those things tying you down.....Go out and roll in the leaves just like when you were a kid!
And don't forget that ice fishing is right around the corner!!!

Barry County Nomad

Why is it that my life is turning into a Willie Nelson song??????Oh well

Today was the kickoff off of the Fall "Cornucopia of Indulgence" as Michigan offers up such pristine deer hunting, fishing......etc....In the midst of my enjoyment of the outdoors......I GOT SOME GAS FOR THE BOAT AND RAN INTO AN OLD FRIEND.......Good to see you.....Smile on.......

Here is the PRIMETIME VAN hauling the remnants of the shipwreck from the bottom of the sea......

And the precious mattress of the hide-a-bed (if you have ever slept on it, you will know it rocks!) blew off the van causing a major traffic tie-up....here I am pickin' her up.....

Just enjoy the serenade of Willie....and know that although the waves are over the deck, I am sailing toward the port......It looks like a ways away.....
