What I've learned about Women

(another old post I'm bringing back! Enjoy!)

No woman is too young or too old to be held in a man's arms tightly and be sung love songs to.

To be told she is beautiful.
To be told she is worthwhile and special.
I live with five women: guys, trust me.....Hold the women in your life and tell them how much they are special, beautiful, and that THEY MAKE THE WORLD GO 'ROUND........



Other than that, I've only figured out that they don't say what they mean most of the time. They say what they have thought up in 1.7 seconds to see how you will respond. It will take you 7 days to analyze it to illicit the response you should come back with to show them you love them. SAVE YOUR ENERGY AND JUST TELL THEM......

TEAM T travelled to the Big Lake today for a slice of Salmon Slaughtering Adventure!

Went out of Grand Haven on BOOK' EM' DANNO charters for a salmon slaughterfest! This Captain/Crew come with a five redneck star approval from TEAM T!

My day started very early with a road trip in the Commanche Commander over to Bisquick Gordon Indian Lightfoot's casa....On the road by 0400!

I had ol' BOBSCARELLI all worked up about being sea sick since he had never set foot on any boat except the one that is a barge and has slot machines..... Here's the big PuertoRican in his Walmart Hunter Orange thinking about how afraid he is to die.

I do recall him asking the Captain, "where's the life jackets?" The Captain's reply? "We have swimmies up front if you want some"........

The Outdoor Pro Staff here at TEAM T provides the next informational lesson in our ongoing series. Today we focus on yet another Crucial Critical Safety Skill for the BIG LAKE......I give you the Big City Salmon Safety Crouch! As always here is the informative MSPAINT drawing to ram home the concept!

And I now present Bobscorelli performing this crouch in perfect form! The knees are heavily bent over an overly aggressive wide stance. The knees are shaking as you've never been in a big boat on the BIG LAKE and you are nervous as Jiggers told you the whole way there you would be deathly sea-sick and vomit. A crucial portion of the Big City Salmon Safety Crouch is the highly visible orange jacket which screams "rescue me first!" should the Coast Guard become part of the fishing trip. Although Bobsco is sporting the 1998 model from Walmart, it obviously still has it's shine!


The weather was perfectly crummy......Rain.....Cold.....waves.....I felt like I was on the "Deadliest Catch" tv show! I tried so hard to pretend I was a deck hand on a crab boat and followed the Captain/First Mate around firing questions like a hood firing off rounds in the lot of the Chicken Coop. In my earnest endeavor to learn as much as I could during this trip, I did more damage than good.....And that little fantasy in my mind of the Captain putting his arm on my shoulder and saying, "I'd like you to join our team Jiggers. We need your coat size so we can buy you a BOOK'EM'DANNO' official crew jacket and get your name embroidered on it. I'm very impressed with what I've seen out of you today....." Well, that never happened....Instead, I screwed up the two fish I tried to reel in.....Complete 100% failure. No one else seemed to have trouble reeling in their fish.....No "PRO-STAFF CREW" team jacket for me!

Big deal you say? Well.......

Crockett had a fish on,

and got it in the boat.

Here's a picture of my two fish! I screwed up both times reeling them in.....:-(

And a group photo of the buddies.....All with their fish respectively (or no fish because they got too excited and lost both of them).

The crew cleaned the fish up beautifully for us......

Here is the finished product. I put them in bags and took all the air out to keep em fresh! 12lbs of fresh Lake Michigan Salmon! At Meijers Thrifty Acres it's about $7 a pound.....Trailer and Bobsco gave me their fish......12 pounds worth=$84.00 of SALMONARAMALAMADINGDONG!

Speak it into Existence

The new quote I put up on the blog above, "All mankind's inner feelings eventually manifest themselves as outer reality" is worth talking about....I know many of you may look at this blog and wonder "what the big deal" is about this boat.....I mean, does the guy know its 25 years old, isn't the new trendy style, and is one of about 500 million boats on this earth??? Why is is that he is so infatuated with it?

Well, I will tell you why...For the last five years, I was puttering around on the lake in a small boat...I often thought about the boat I wanted....One I could conquer the waves with, a boat that would be safer, and more powerful....I have envisioned for many years about getting a boat to channel the passion I have for fishing and to be able to experience it...

Last year, something changed in me. I realized that I had wasted so much time wishing and thinking about the boat that I had done nothing to make it a reality. It was always in my mind and I had taken no action toward attaining it. So last summer, I began to speak of it. To ask for it. And to PLAN FOR IT! I TOOK ACTION. I still remember the first day I laid eyes on the BADGE-R....I sat and wondered how it could be mine....Then I decided it WOULD BE MINE. I did not have FOUR GRAND in my pocket yet I made it happen!

Now today, I was able to experience that dream as I stared in wonder at the boat in my driveway. It was so beautiful! If I hadn't been so sick today, I may have even taken it for a ride...Plenty of time for riding this summer I guess.

But I digress. I would offer this for you thoughts today: What is it in life that pesters your mind constantly? It's time to quit thinking about it and get after it. Take Action!

Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

I have made a clean canvas on my mind and begun to craft the next vision I have for my life. I will not be painting the picture long, just defining it well on my mindscape so that I may pursue it fervently.

Longing---For the Sea

Today I must speak of a fascination that weighs on my mind. I for some reason have this deep longing for the sea....The "BIG LAKE" as so many around here refer to it as....The Ocean....The depths, seagulls, old weathered sails and rough water worn ropes....Docks protruding out of the water with unshaken confidence that are weathered by the waves, sun, and wind....

I don't know what it is that attracts me....I know partially that it is the danger, the mystery, and the unknown of what is swimming around....I am in awe of the power that the mighty Lakes have stored in their murky depths...

I believe that if I could find a way to be on the water more, I would never grow tired of her beauty, of her power, and the majesty of the powerful waves....

The movie "Perfect Storm" encapsulates all of my lust and longing for the sea....The DANGER....THE PURE ECSTASY AND RAGING ENJOYMENT of the deep blue ocean.....Tis what I long for....The sea....

During the movie, this poor soul struggles and waits anxiously for her love to return....She works tirelessly to make a home for them with the means she has at her disposal... What a great movie...Moreover, what a mystery the sea holds.....

The Blessing

This post will create some controversy....I am sure of it....As you read it, lay all the stuff aside that doesn't matter!

Today, I requested that the Priest from our church come over and pray a prayer of blessing onto THE BADGE-R....It was beautiful.....

I presented her with a rose....I have been wanting to give her a rose for a long time but had to wait for the right moment...

The prayer simply stated that "Lord, please keep away all unfavorable winds from this boat, and bless all those who embark and travel with her."

And this brings about a huge can of worms....Which church and which translation of the Bible is right? I can only tell you this....As I sat today and heard a prayer to God, Jesus, I knew that some of these trivial things people have argued and fought over and died over for thousands of years do not matter....

A Flower for your Day

I made an unexpected stop today, AND IT MADE MY DAY....I came home with a rose for my wife.....And it did the trick...Let's just say the new boyshorts looked and smelled very nice!

I believe that sometimes the language of love dictates that we quiet our mouths, open our hearts, and let passion speak......

Well, all I can say is, if the house is a rockin', don't bother knockin', COME ON IN!!!!! Here is the Captain welcoming you to the party...

I had the pleasure of being introduced to Captain Obvious' sister....She was a pleasure to talk to....

Look at this hot BDAY PRESENT....It is the only gift I got off my list! Somebody was being thoughtful and paying very close attention apparently! BOYSHORTS!

Hats were the rule for the party, no hat, no entro!

So basically, in my attempt to begin living life to the new level and throwing away things that don't matter and getting to living, I pulled out all the stops. That included drilling two holes into my wall to mount a strobe light, TURNING MY LIVING ROOM INTO A DANCE FLOOR, AND DANCING ON MY TABLES AND FURNITURE, As well as stumpy bringing over a flashing red light to make the perfect dance floor.......What is holding you back from doing what you want? Are you worried about what other people will think or that two holes in your wall are too much? Are you worried it might be too over the top? My friend, you are not guaranteed tomorrow, perhaps its time to throw off the bowlines and embark on a journey into a new life, one free of all the things that so easily beset us.....And certainly ditching all of the pressure we allow to be exerted on ourselves as we worry about what other people will think or wonder about us.....I have let go of all those outside pressures and started to take a hard look at my life....This year will no doubt be the biggest for Jitters of TEAM T....And (I know you aren't supposed to start a sentence with "and" as it makes an incomplete sentence but WHO CARES) it will also be the year of the biggest changes.....Don't despair and wonder what all the changes are....Sit down in the front seat and watch them all unfold here at ALMOSTGUNLAKERS!

Take a piece of paper, shut off the phone, sit and quietly think about what your life has been and what you wish to be.....Then think of ALL THE REASONS IT ISN'T......AND GET RID OF THEM!

Get on your tables, your best tables, AND DANCE! I have yet to see someone's gravestone that said "I wish I wouldn't have danced on my tables. It hurts the finish."

Party Pics and Opening Day!

This past weekend was a real blow out festival at the house for my birthday party! It was by far the best birthday I have ever experienced.....pics to come soon!





Today is a few hours of sleep and off to JP's for the Detroit Tigers Annual Opening day party!!!! Can't Wait!





I turned 33 Friday and feel like I have just got started living and loving life!!!!

Well today, "she was a fast machine she kept her motor clean!"

Me and the Badge'r finally got to go out and go full bore!

The ice is beginning to break up (especially after me doing laps in the partially opened bay!

I am very impressed with the handling of the ol' BADGE-R..... I pushed her to the limits and she squeeled in delight! I've been waiting so long and finally got to hear that motor scream!!!!! It was even better than I had imagined! This boat likes it HAMMER DOWN!
